Pieces of Drawing Advice that Have Stuck with me Over the Years
1. Never work faster than accuracy will allow.
2. A Drawing can be stopped at any time, so long as there are no errors.
3. Catch and fix errors as early as possible in the process. They are much harder to fix later.
4. Don’t compare yourself to other artists. Only compete with yourself.
5. It’s okay to start a drawing or painting over.
6. Flip, rotate, and zoom out of the canvas to refresh your eyes and check for errors.
7. Make your own reference if you can’t find it.
8. Sketch everything and keep your curiosity fresh.
9. A failed piece doesn’t make you a failure.
10. Work from life, from reference, and from imagination. Each uses different skills and develops your work on different levels.
